Hello there to all! Thank you to everyone who came to the Jump Rope for Heart Kick-off. It was a very pleasant evening and I believe all of the children who were there had a lot of fun.
MATH: Our "Numbers to 40" unit continues. Last week most of the focus was on addition methods. On Friday we took a mid-chapter quiz. The quiz is in your child's red folder. This week we or working on subtraction methods, word problems, and adding three numbers. The third and final "Friendly Notes" information page will be sent home in your child's red homework folder on Tuesday. Please keep these information pages to use as a reference when helping your child with homework. These pages will also come in handy when we study the "Numbers through 120" unit during the 4th quarter. POETRY: By now your child should have the 3rd stanza of "My Shadow" memorized and be working on the 4th stanza. Poetry recitations begin the week of February 12th. HISTORY: We are finishing up the history unit on early explorers and settlers and are spending this week reviewing everything we have discussed. An information sheet / study guide has been sent home today in your child's red homework folder. You do not need to send that back to school. The history test is on Thursday. GRAMMAR: -Nouns, pronouns, verbs - Five parts of a sentence UPCOMING DATES: Friday, Feb. 9th - "Trivium East Spirit Day" - Half Day Dismissal, 12:00 pm - No Lunch Monday, Feb. 19th - No School: Presidents' Day Tuesday, Feb. 27th- PSO Night at Peter Piper Pizza, 4:30 - 7:30 Please see the Athenian Echo for more details about upcoming events.
