Hello and here we are starting our first week of school for the 2017 - 2018 school year. My blog will be updated on a weekly basis - usually no later than Monday evening. Most blog posts will be fairly brief. The posts will be longer during the first week or two due to the large volume of information. The blog page as well as The Athenian Echo are excellent pages to read about general information for class and school.
Meet the teacher night was so fun! I enjoyed meeting so many of the students and parents who will be a part of our class. SCHOOL SUPPLIES AND CONSUMABLE BOOKS In the last couple of days I have spent several hours going through and checking off school supplies. If anything is missing a note will be sent home with the items that your child needs highlighted. Those parents who let me know that they were waiting for supplies to come in will also receive those notes as it is one of the ways I keep track of who I have contacted. THE HARP AND LAUREL WREATH and AESOP'S FABLES The lower grades do require all of the consumable books to be brought in at the beginning of the year. We will be using Aesop's Fables this week. We do use TheHarp and Laurel Wreath in the classroom at different times throughout the year. Below is a link that you can cut and paste into the browser bar to for The Harp and Laurel Wreath. It is also available at the Barnes and Noble near the school. https://www.amazon.com/Harp-Laurel-Wreath-Dictation-Curriculum/dp/0898707161/ref=pd_cp_14_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=FAPKRS2W0NJCQHBG6QHP The pink Spalding notebook and Singapore math workbooks must be ordered from the company websites. http://archwaytriviumeast.greatheartsacademies.org/wp-content/uploads/sites/13/2017/05/ATE-Consumable-Book-List-17-18.pdf THIS WEEK It will be completely normal for your child to feel a mixture of nervousness and excitement throughout the week. Going from kindergarten to first grade is a huge step. This week our main focus will be learning and practicing grade level and classroom procedures and expectations. One of the school expectations that we will be going over will be the school dress code. While it is easy for the older scholars to relay information about dress code, the younger scholars have a harder time remembering so dress code notes will be sent home in your child's red homework folder. AFTER SCHOOL PICK UP PROCEDURE Below is a link to the pick-up and drop-off procedures. (As with all of the links on this page, you will probably have to cut and paste it into the browser bar.) Please direct any questions about the procedures to the front office. The pick-up procedure will take longer during the first weeks of school so your patience is appreciated. http://archwaytriviumeast.greatheartsacademies.org/wp-content/uploads/sites/13/2017/07/ATE-Parent-pickup-dropoff-with-traffic-maps.pdf UPCOMING DATES: Every Wednesday is a 1:15 early release.
